The Farm
My parents purchased a farm a few months ago. With the cold weather, we hadn’t been out there as a family yet, so this weekend we decided to go check it out. My brother, Matt, and his wife Megan were in town so it was the perfect place to spend some time together as a family.
At first, I didn’t know what to expect from the farm. But, when we got there it exceeded my expectations. It was a beautiful piece of land. The farm is 20 acres and has a log cabin on the property with 3 or 4 ponds, a spring fed creek, a huge raised garden, and a waterfall!
Caleb had a wonderful time walking all around the farm. His favorite thing to do was to play with a stick in the water. He loved hitting the water with a stick. He did it over and over again.
Caleb also got to see his first live fish. It wasn’t orange or yellow like the fish in his books, so he was a little confused at first. But, overall, he liked the fish.
We had a great time as a family eating a good lunch, walking around the farm, and fishing. My parents also made a fire pit, so we had a great time talking and catching up.
Caleb has his own rocking chair on the screened in porch. He loved rocking in the chair. He sat in the chair looking outside eating his snacks for 30 minutes! Anyone with a 15 month old knows that is almost impossible for a toddler to do:)
The best thing about the farm is there is no cell phone reception! So, we got to just enjoy a few hours without the daily distractions life brings.
I can see us taking Caleb down to the farm for many years to come. It as a great place and it made my heart so happy to see how much my parents love the farm and experiencing it with Caleb.
