Thanksgiving/Almost 1st Birthday
We had a great Thanksgiving. Wednesday night, we headed to Grove to hang out with my parents. Caleb had a lot of fun. They went to two different parks, ate lots of snacks, and played with lots of different toys. My dad got out poker chips and Caleb loved stacking them up and then knocking them down. It was funny.
On Thanksgiving, we went to my Grandma’s house for lunch and then to Jeff’s mom’s house for the evening. We had a great time eating turkey and playing with Caleb. He ran a temperature throughout the night, but he didn’t even notice it because he was busy playing in the cool car his Meme got for his birthday. He looked like a grown man in the car because he would kick back, put his arm out the window, and just let the breeze run through his hair. It was so cute.
Friday, we came back to Fayetteville. I went on a long run while Jeff and Caleb went to the park and went shopping. They came home with a singing Mickey Mouse and a Snuggie for me. Men? After dinner on Friday night, we took Caleb to get his first hair cut. See the post below. Caleb hated getting his hair cut but he looks so cute now.
Saturday we ran errands and had some friends over for the football game. Caleb didn’t really want to watch the first half of the game, so he was kind of cranky. Lauren gave him some Clippo Blocks for his birthday, so that got him to change his attitude. He loved them. The whole second half, Caleb had fun watching football with the boys, playing blocks, and walking around the living room.
Sunday we did work around the house and just had some family time together. It was a great Sunday.
Tomorrow is Caleb’s 1st birthday. I can’t believe that a year ago today I was checking into the hospital. It was snowing outside and so cold. I will never forget that day. The start of my labor wasn’t going as smoothly as we would have liked because Caleb’s heartbeat was extremely fast (over 200 beats) and I kept passing out from the epidural. I was so scared because I just wanted Caleb to be OK. Then, at 2:00AM the next day, Caleb was born. For a split second, it was silent but then he started to cry. I’ll never forget the first time he cried and the relief that washed over me. He was here! The doctor placed him on my chest and my heart just burst with happiness. I looked at Jeff and all he kept saying was Thank You. I felt so complete to have a healthy baby boy and a great husband.
This last year has been full of happiness. We have had times where we were sleep deprived, stressed out, and just didn’t know what to do, but it is hard to remember those times when I think over the last year and all the wonderful times we have had together. I love that little boy so much. His smile can melt my heart.
Thank you Caleb for letting me be your mom. I love you so much and I pray every day that I can raise you to be a great man, a man that loves God and his family. You are such a wonderful baby. You laugh all the time and that makes me the happiest person in the world. I am so thankful that I get to be your mom.
Thank you Jeff for putting up with me the last year. I know that there are times you wished I got more sleep, wasn’t worrying constantly, or that I would just take a shower:) Your consistent love and support have helped me more than I could ever say. I love you more now than ever and can’t wait to see what God has in store for our family. You are a great dad.
Tomorrow will be a big day at our house and we’ll post pictures soon.
Here is an update of everything Caleb is up to:
Caleb can take 5 or 6 steps by himself. He normally will only take them to get from dad to mom or vice versa.
Caleb can say momma, dada, wa-wa (water), dog, ball, book, papa, bubbles, and ga (we think Grandma).
Caleb still doesn’t like table food. He will eat graham crackers, yogurt, and brownies, but nothing healthy. He doesn’t like 3rd foods either.
Caleb loves water and juice. He can drink almost a full bottle of water if you would let him.
Caleb loves to be outside. His favorite thing to do is go outside to look for airplanes & his dogs or go to the park to go down the slide.
Caleb loves blocks and cars. He will push his cars all around the house and put his blocks together for hours.
Caleb loves music. He will dance whenever it comes on.
Caleb watches DVD’s in the car on the way to school. He loves Barney, Elmo, and the Wiggles.
Caleb loves to read books. He will sit in mom’s lap forever reading books. He even tries to read them by himself. He flips the pages and babbles the whole time while pointing to things.
Caleb points at everything now. His pointing consists of putting his index finger and thumb together and then pointing. It is so cute.
Caleb loves pictures of his family.
The only body part he will point at is his tongue. If you ask him where his tongue is, he will stick it out and wag it like a dog. Hilarious.
Thanks for checking on us. We’ll post birthday pictures soon.
